“Andrew has been instrumental in helping me achieve goals I'd have never thought would be possible.  Over many years of coaching me, Andrew's expertise, lived experiences, dependability and sage advice has helped me achieve a 2:48 marathon PB aged 46, PBs at track and cross-country races, and trail ultramarathons that ultimately led to my selection to represent NZ at the World Trail & Mountain Running Champs in 2025.  Andrew possesses the perfect combination of strong theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and excellent communication and is a constant source of inspiration and motivation.  I greatly appreciate Andrew's balanced, sensible, and adaptable approach, and his unwavering support and encouragement. From full training plans tailored around my busy lifestyle, to ad-hoc advice on pacing, shoes, gear, nutrition, injuries (and recovering from them!) - I don't think there's anything running-related that Andrew wouldn't have a wise opinion about!"

“Andrew is annoying. I regularly thought I had him beaten in a race, and then he’d pop back up on my shoulder again, waiting to sprint past me towards the finish line. Most people will fall off if you make a hard move in the middle of a race, and once they are behind you, they stay there. But Andrew will have thought about all the possible scenarios in a race he might encounter and how he needs to train to respond to them. If you want to beat him, you need to have done the same comprehensive training and bring your A Game. Luckily, he was always happy to train with me and share his knowledge, which gave me a fighting chance to beat him.”

“As a masters athlete, Andrew was always right there in the mix—holding his own through the toughest marathon workouts, whether it was grinding out a Mākara loop or pushing through a Karori Park session. He was someone you could rely on—not just to cover the miles, but to turn to for thoughtful training advice. I’ve seen firsthand how he’s put his wealth of experience to great use, coaching athletes from the road to the trail at a world-class level—and that’s exciting for anyone looking for a coach to help them chase their own goals.”

“Having been relatively new to running, I started training with Andrew in early 2023. Up to then, I had run a few half marathons, all around the 1hr35 – 1hr40 mark, and one full marathon (3hr24).

I was keen to see whether some guidance and coaching from Andrew could help me improve my running. Structured training and consistency, along with weekly tailored workouts and pacing strategies really did the trick. I quickly broke the sub-90 min half marathon, sub-40 min 10k and, very nearly, a 3hr marathon (3:01), times I had only dreamed of before the start of my coaching journey with Andrew.

Andrew also pulled me back when I got over enthusiastic, and gave me plenty of solid advice around injury prevention and rehab.”
