Age-Grade Calculator
How good is your time, really? Age grading scores your run against the best performance on record for your age and sex, so you can compare yourself fairly across ages, sexes and distances.
Time to reach each level
| Level | Grade | Time |

The same grade at other distances
| Distance | Time | Pace /km |

These assume your endurance is as strong as your speed. Most runners grade higher at the distances they train for.
What do the levels mean?
90%+ World class · 80%+ National class · 70%+ Regional class · 60%+ Local class · below 60% Recreational. These are the standard World Masters Athletics bands. 100% equals the best performance on record for your age.
Age grading is a ratio against that standard. It is not a percentile. A score of 70% does not mean you beat 70% of runners your age; in most races a 70% runner finishes well inside the top quarter.
How is it calculated?
Each age has an age factor. Your age standard is the open (peak-age) standard divided by that factor, and your age grade is the age standard divided by your time. Your open-age equivalent is your time multiplied by the factor.
Grades are most reliable on certified road courses. Trail, cross-country and hilly courses will grade lower than your true fitness. parkrun uses its own variant, so your parkrun age grade may differ by a point or two.
